The ribbon colour of the Crosses of Liberty conferred in peacetime is yellow. The ribbon colour of the Crosses of Liberty conferred during wartime is red.
Difference between decorations conferred to the military and civilians
Crosses of Liberty are always conferred with swords to military personnel. Without swords to civilians.
With a red cross
Cross of Liberty Third and Fourth Class, Medal of Liberty First and Second Class and Medal of Merit First and Second Class of the Order of the Cross of Liberty can be conferred with a red cross for merits in medical service and medical care or similar activities, including international military operations.
Crosses of Liberty to the military and civilians
The Cross of Liberty is awarded to military personnel and the Cross of Liberty Medal of Merit to civilians. The Cross of Liberty awarded for distinction in international crisis management tasks in combat or combat-like conditions has a rosette, and the Medal of Freedom then has the text “Urheudesta, För tapperhet” (For bravery).
